I think recent versions of TCPMP play wmv, but there might be compatibility problems with some wmv variations. I've seen some postings from people trying to get an rm player working, but I didn't pay any attention to whether they succeeded or not. There's no good reason to keep rm files in that format when there are tools to convert rm to avi. Most tools and players don't work with rmvb format though.

I only need it so that I can get the various maps for the 3.2 software. Anyone have any links to the maps for 3.2?

Can you post how you fixed the no sound issue? I am in the same situation. TT6 working but no sound

I tried to put the voice files in various different locations. Eventually, I put them in \Storage card\Tom Tom\voices.

Have read a lot on downloading Canada.fbl - I tried it on the c310x without success. Not sure how to set up the directory - do I use the Mio transfer to download it to the SD card? Need assistance on this since I'm a new user.

Map files can go in any of these directories:

\My Flash Disk\MioMap\MioMap\Maps (default location)
\Storage Card\Maps (on SD card)
\Storage Card\MioMap\Maps (on SD card)

If you have an unlocked Mio, you can put the map in any of these directories manually, and it will be recognized and merged with the other maps when you exit and re-start MioMap.

If you have an SD card reader, you can write it to the SD card that way. You have to do a soft reset on the Mio when you re-insert the SD card in order for it to pick up changes you have made.

I think the default unhacked Mio Transfer program lets you put maps on either My Flash Disk or the SD card, but I'm not sure it creates the sub-directory correctly on the SD card.

Thanks for the info - tried formating disk and using the directory you suggested did not work - I made directory on My Computer making a new folder as suggested and copied the canada.flb file to folder, is this correct. Also the canada.flb file is 52 kb - what does the 94 kb file have on it?? I'm not planning to unlock the unit Thanks Howard

stratman, I'm not sure what you're talking about with "My Computer", as the directories I referred to are supposed to be created on the Mio, not on your WinXP computer.

If you have a separate SD card reader, do this:
1. Put the SD card from the Mio into the reader
2. Create the directory \Maps in the root directory of the SD card
3. Put the Canada.fbl file in the \Maps directory of the SD card
4. Put the SD card back into your Mio
5. Press the Reset button on the buttom of the Mio

The full Canada.fbl file is 94 Mbytes (not Kbytes). The only difference from the smaller file is that the larger one has more POIs. They are both the same map vintage.

Greattt - I now have the Canadian map - now please, how can I get the 94 mb version as I have no Canadian POI on the GPS -not unless I'm missing something in the settings???

You can add your own POI interactively by just tapping a location on the map.

If you want to import POI files from elsewhere, try iGoPOIExplorer: http://inetcom.hu/mick/igo/iGOPOIExplorerBeta.zip (MioMap is an OEM version of iGO software, so utilities for iGO generally work with MioMap)

It's best to copy your iGO.db file from the Mio to the PC and edit it there, rather than trying to do it in place over USB.

The built-in POIs are part of the .fbl map files, so you can't edit them unfortunately.

thx, but i dont mean that way... for example...locations of gas stations (sunoco, petrol can...etc) or walmart new locations, shops and store that i might not have been there or know of...

is there a more updated data base of all these anywhere....is stead of manually typing everything in

There's lots of them. Just search online for GPS POI. You have to pay for some of them though. Most of them are available in GPX or CSV format which you can import with iGOPOIExplorer.

If anyone is looking for a decent carrying case for the Mio C310SX or similarly sized handheld GPS, SuperStore has the Lowepro D40 digital camera bag on sale for half price ($8.97). It was the best of the regular digital camera bags I found for the Mio - it's about the right size, a little long, but made of stretchy material that adapts to fit.
